Refund policy

Before delivery

Changed your mind before we've delivered your song? You'll get a full refund, no questions asked. Just email us with your order number.

After delivery: your 7-day listening window

1. Listen first. When your song is delivered, you get 7 days to stream it on your private song page as often as you like. During this window you can stream, but downloads stay locked.
2. Not quite right? Ask for a revision. During the window you can request a revision from your song page. Your first revision is free (one goodwill revision within 30 days of delivery), and further revisions are $15 each.
3. Out of free revisions? You can ask for a refund instead. If you've already used your free revision and still aren't happy, you can request a refund from your song page during the window. We review every request by hand and reply within 1 to 2 days.
4. Accepting your song. When you click Accept, or when the 7 days pass, your files unlock for download (your song versions, plus your lyric PDF page, lyric video and lyric art for your package), and standard refunds end.
5. After you accept. If something is still wrong, contact us and explain what happened. We may still consider a refund at Sung by Starlight's discretion.
6. A song that was never delivered, or a billing error, is always refunded.

Refunds go back to your original payment method and usually appear within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank.

Fixes and revisions

• Free name and pronunciation fixes. If a name is spelled or sung wrong, we'll fix it free within 30 days of delivery.
• Other changes aren't included in the price. If you ask within 30 days of delivery, we'll make one goodwill revision free. After that, we may politely decline further free changes.
• Paid full-song revisions are $15 each. Email us with your order number and we'll set it up.
• Two kinds of revision. For the goodwill revision or a paid one, you choose either a fresh recording of the same song (same lyrics and style, new performances) or changes to the lyrics, mood, tempo, style or details. Each revision, free or paid, is delivered as two new full versions on your song page, just like your original song.
• Refunds and revisions. Refunds during the 7-day listening window are for customers who've used their free revision. Once you accept your song, standard refunds end, except if your song never arrived or you were billed in error.

Your preview and downloads

• Free preview. Before paying, you hear a short preview of your actual song and see part of the lyrics. If it's not quite right, you can try a different take once, free. When you choose a package and continue to checkout, we record that you heard and approved your preview.
• Delivery. Right after you pay, two full versions of your song are delivered to your private song page, where you can play them right away. Version 1 is the take you previewed; Version 2 is an alternate take with the same lyrics. For Starlight and Supernova, you pick which of the two versions your lyric PDF page (and, for Supernova, your lyric video and lyric art) is based on, right on your song page. We make them from the version you pick and add them to the same page the same day.
• Extra verse (+$8). You can add it to any package at checkout. We write one more verse from your story (keeping the lyrics you approved) and record your song again with it. Your extended song arrives on your song page the same day, as two new full versions that replace the ones you previewed.
• Your downloads unlock for both versions and all your package files at once, as soon as you click Accept, or automatically 7 days after delivery, whichever comes first. Until then you can stream both versions on your song page. Accepting ends standard refunds (see Refund policy).
• Your downloads are guaranteed for 1 year after they unlock. If a link ever fails in that time, we'll send it again.
• You can upgrade your order from your song page and pay only the difference.

Payment disputes

If something went wrong, please contact us first. We can almost always fix it, or refund you under this policy, faster than a bank can. If a payment is disputed with your bank, we keep records of your order, your preview approval, delivery of both versions, and downloads of each version, and we'll share them with our payment processor to respond.

Who can order

You must be 18 or older to make a purchase.

How your song is made

We write lyrics from the story you share. The music and vocals are produced with AI music tools. Every song is custom-made, so results can vary, and that's what the preview, the two versions and the fixes above are for.

What you can do with your song

Your song is for personal use. You can keep it forever, play it, gift it, and share it with friends and family, including on social media. Please don't sell, license, or distribute it commercially, or upload it to streaming services, unless we've agreed to that in writing.

What you share with us

• Only share names, stories and details you have the right to share, and that the people involved would be comfortable with.
• We don't make songs about public figures or celebrities, or songs meant to harass, threaten, mock, or defame anyone. We may refuse or cancel any order (with a full refund) if a request crosses those lines.
• You allow us to use what you send only to make, deliver and support your song.

Samples

The samples on our website are examples made from a fictional story. Your song will be unique to your story and won't sound exactly like them.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The version shown when you placed your order applies to that order.
